A leaked document that theoretically belongs to Sony has allowed us to “confirm” what was an open secret that Horizon Forbidden West will be released on PC at some point. It’s no surprise, we already know that the Japanese company has completely changed its strategy when it comes to PS5 exclusives, and that many of them have already started to achieve compatibility.

Horizon Zero Dawn was exactly one of the first PS4 exclusives to come to PC, so it’s no surprise that Horizon Forbidden West is facing the same fate. As I told you then, this change of strategy by Sony is an attempt maximize return on investment represented by PlayStation exclusivity. These games will remain temporary exclusives for Sony consoles, but will eventually come to PC as well.

There is no specific period of exclusivity for these games, or at least it hasn’t been publicly confirmed, but it’s normal for it to take between 6 months and 1 year depending on the importance of each game. With that in mind, with Horizon Forbidden West hitting PS4 and PS5 last February, it may be coming to PC late this year or early next year.

The leaked document also includes a reference to the PC version of Sackboy which was recently officially announced and we know that at the moment the game Rise of the Ronin and Death Stranding 2 were listed as PS5 exclusives. I’m not sure what will happen with the first part, but we can be sure that Death Stranding 2 will also eventually come to PC and that, like the first part, it will be packed with technologies exclusive to this platform. (NVIDIA DLSS, Intel XeSS, AMD FSR and ray tracing).

At this time, we still have no news of other PlayStation exclusives that continue to be the object of desire for PC gamers, such as the expected Bloodborne and The Last of Us Part I. We know about the first thanks to reliable sources that Japan Studio got his hands on a working build for PC before its closure, but it ended up “in limbo” and ultimately Sony has the final say.

Regarding The Last of Us Part I, this was confirmed by Sony itself it will have a PC version, but didn’t give a specific release date, so we’ll just have to wait for now. Overall, I think the Christmas period would be a very suitable date to launch it.
