In July, Xiaomi stopped software support for the Redmi K20 Pro (aka Mi 9T Pro) worldwide. Three months later, the company hints to end after-sales support for this phone along with five other phones in China.
Over the weekend, the company announced the end of after-sales service for these phones. However, a few hours later, the message was canceled. According to the announcement, the following smartphones will no longer be supported by service centers in China.
But since the message has been withdrawn and not yet reinstated, the actual after-sales support for the above-mentioned devices in China remains a mystery for now. Maybe soon the company will make a statement about it.
On the other hand, there is no such statement from Xiaomi’s global divisions yet. That said, we recommend contacting your local Xiaomi support team to find out about the availability of the service for any of the phones listed above.
It’s normal for companies to stop providing software and hardware support for their legacy products. But the Redmi K20 Pro is only 3 years old and people usually replace the batteries during this time. We hope that Xioami will extend the support a bit more.
