Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software development, and Alan Dye, Apple’s vice president of interfaces, talked about how Dynamic Island was developed.
According to executives, Dynamic Island is a fundamental change in the user experience on iPhone in the last 5 years. This is the first time since iPhone X hit the market and new solutions for iPhone 14 Pro.
After freeing up space at the top of the iPhone screen due to the reduction of the TrueDepth camera system, Apple experts thought about how to create something elegant yet very useful in the company’s signature style. Federighi noted that although Dynamic Island differs slightly from ideas of anthropomorphism, it still gives each iPhone a new and powerful charge of individuality.
The company has sought to create a “seamless” experience that blurs as much as possible the line between where hardware ends and software begins.
“It was really interesting for us to put together what’s on our iPhone in this little interactive place”– said Craig Federighi.
