CD Projekt RED has delayed the release of its updated game “The Witcher 3”. This was reported on the studio’s Twitter account.
Representatives of the Polish studio said that the internal team decided to continue updating the game “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”. “We are currently evaluating the amount of future work and therefore publication should be delayed until further notice,” it said in a statement. The company did not reveal the exact timing of the title.
Journalists from Kotaku said that the decision to finish the game on their own for next-gen consoles was due to the end of cooperation with Saber Interactive, the studio that previously worked on “The Witcher”. The authors suggested that the separation could be due to the situation around the world, saying, “Although Saber Interactive is headquartered in Florida, its first game studio was founded in St. Petersburg.”
“We have no further comments or clarifications at this time,” CD Projekt RED representatives said in response to Kotaku’s request. Saber Interactive representatives were unable to respond immediately.
The release of “The Witcher 3” for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S was to take place in late spring. Previously, the next generation version was scheduled for the end of 2021.
