According to experts, global shipments of complex phones will reach 13.5 million units in 2022. As a result, this year’s growth will be 66.6%. Analysts have announced that in 2021, gadget manufacturers are sending 8.1 million smartphones to the market in a new form factor.
“The recent launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 has refocused attention on this form factor as Samsung remains the gold standard for foldable devices on the market.” – Anthony Scarsella, renowned IDC research director.
According to IDC’s long-term forecast, foldable smartphones are expected to grow in popularity among mobile users in the future. Thus, in 2026 the supply of such smartphones will reach 41.5 million units.
With about 70% growth expected in foldable phones in 2022, the biggest question today is whether foldable devices will become the main form factor in the near future. Unfortunately, the answer so far is negative”– IDC research director Nabila Popal concluded.
