Many of Apple’s suppliers have opened production facilities near the company’s headquarters in Cupertino. As The Wall Street Journal wrote, the decision to actively hand over manufacturing facilities has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and difficulties with logistics from Asia to North America.

According to the publication, as of September 2021, 48 of Apple’s more than 180 suppliers are currently manufacturing in the United States, although there were only 25 facilities a year ago. The WSJ found that there were more than 30 sites in California in 2021, three times more than the previous year.

According to the list of suppliers on Apple’s website, the company’s key partners such as Foxconn, TSMC and Sony have also added manufacturing facilities in the US. Second, it is a major supplier of iPhone smartphone cameras.

But the Cupertino-based company is still heavily dependent on East Asian countries. About 150 Apple suppliers work in China. Production in South Korea and Japan also plays an important role.

So far, there is no exact information about the volume of business carried out at the American production facilities. But journalists are confident that the trend speaks of Apple’s desire to avoid the monopoly of Chinese factories.
