OUR Tesla revealed last Friday (30), during the event AI Daywhat software Full self drivingits autopilot program is already being used in beta by 160,000 of the company’s customers.

Only 2,000 customers used the software last year. Today, after 35 versions of the system, according to Elon Muskowner Tesla, the technology could be launched as early as 2022.

Full Self Driving, the software that drives Tesla for you

According to Paryl Jane, Tesla technology leader, the system of full self-driving has undergone significant changes and can now make “human” decisions. One of the examples given is the possible reaction that a Tesla might have when making a turn, specifically a left turn at an intersection, when the car chooses a trajectory that does not intersect with obstacles such as people crossing the street.

Tesla vehicles provide datasets for building models that the full self-driving system uses, and with this data the company will be able to create and process detailed 3D structures, according to Tesla CTO Phil Duane. Tesla also reported that the cars improve decision making in various environmental situations such as night, fog, and rain.

Tesla conducts training on the company’s AI software on its supercomputer and then sends the results to customers’ vehicles via software updates.by air‘ (through the air). In this type of procedure, Full Self Driving processes video feeds from Tesla’s fleet of more than 1 million vehicles equipped with roadside cameras and through the built-in simulator. Unreal engine – 3D software widely used in game development – these situations are implemented and help to improve autopilot.

The supercomputer used by Tesla is based on an Nvidia GPU and a data center with 30 PB (30,000,000 GB) of stored images. Tesla is also working on a new custom computer using proprietary chips called Dojo, which the company says can replace 72 GPU racks of 4,000 GPUs with just four Dojo chassis. This Tesla-designed technology will be ready in 2023 and will be built in Palo Alto in a 10-cabinet system called “ExaPod” with 1.3TB of high-speed SRAM and 13TB of high-bandwidth DRAM.

Tesla vehicles are adding more and more features. The company is trying to turn its car into something more than just a car, either by introducing screens and recreational functionality, or by designing more comfort and exclusivity for its users.
