American startup Sabrewing demonstrated the RG-1-A Alpha aircraft-type drone that can lift record heavy loads into the air. This was reported by the New Atlas publication.
During the final test, it was noted that the drone was able to pick up a cargo weighing 374 kg from the ground. At the same time, according to the manufacturer, the device has the potential to lift objects weighing 1.4 tons.
Even though the actual capabilities of the RG-1-A Alpha so far differ from the mathematical model, even 374 kg is a significant result. For comparison, the previous cargo capacity record among aerial drones was broken in 2018 when a Skyf company drone took off with a 220kg package as part of a test.
The RG-1-A Alpha is a gigantic device that weighs 1.2 tons, can accelerate to 370 km/h and can reach a height of 6.7 km.
Sabrewing will begin sales of Alpha cargo aircraft in 2023. Currently, the company has 28 copies of the RG-1-A in its fleet.
