iPhone and MacBook prices rise again: Processor manufacturer Apple raises prices

Apple previously rejected TSMC’s offer to raise the price for the company’s chip production in 2023. However, the Economic Daily News reports that Apple has decided to accept TSMC’s chip price hike.

TSMC told its customers (like Apple and Nvidia) that it plans to increase the prices of 8-inch wafers by 6% and the prices of 12-inch wafers by 5%. Rumors have it that Apple initially told the Taiwanese semiconductor maker that it would not accept the price hike. But today’s news shows that Apple will continue to pay the new price set by TSMC.

We remind you that Apple is one of the main customers of TSMC, the company supplies chips for devices such as iPhone, iPad and Mac. Given the large number of orders Apple places each year, it’s easier for the company to strike a discount deal. However, some price increase is inevitable due to the current economic situation in the world.

The Economic Daily News states that this year, the chip shortage continues to affect the entire industry, despite declining demand for smartphones, computers and tablets.
