Electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft seldom go beyond the conceptual stage yet. However, XPeng showed the X2 eVTOL flying machine in action.

The X2 was developed by Chinese startup HT Aero, which is owned by Chinese electric car manufacturer XPeng.

The current version of the two-seater has a carbon fiber body and eight rotors (two rotors per arm) mounted on four arms. Its dimensions are 4.97m long, 4.78m wide and 1.36m high, but can be folded down to 1.83m wide. The X2 eVTOL weighs 560kg and has a maximum take-off weight of 760kg.

It will be able to develop a cruising speed of 130 km / h at an altitude of 1000 m and will have a run time of 35 minutes with a single battery charge. Some of its other features include autonomous flight capability, radar range and obstacle avoidance systems, and an automatically deployed safety parachute.
