According to İsmail Demir, Turkey’s chief procurement officer, Turkish defense companies are developing “the world’s first unmanned surface ship with electronic warfare capabilities.”

“After the groundbreaking SİHA (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles) on the battlefield, Turkey is now developing SİDA (Unmanned Surface Ships or USVs)”– said İsmail Demira on Twitter. “Marlin SİDA became the first unmanned surface vehicle with electronic warfare capability”.

Marlin SIDA is being developed in cooperation with Turkey’s largest defense company Aselsan and the private shipyard Sefine.

The 15 meters (49 feet) long Marlin SİDA can take part in combat, electronic warfare and asymmetrical operations. Marlin SİDA, which can be used more flexibly than warships, is the world’s first combat deployment system.

Marlin SİDA is planned to be used in naval operations for defense and offensive missions in the open sea.
