Presented Simple Phone smartphone “protected” from Google services

According to the reports of the portal Liliputing, the Slovak company Simple Mobile Tools presented a smartphone running Android. A feature of Simple Phone, according to the manufacturer, is the absence of any Google services.

Simple Phone runs on Android 11 with the pre-installed SimpleOS shell, which lacks Google services including GMS and Google Play. Instead, it uses an open source alternative F-Droid store. But such a decision also deprives users of the ability to officially install the YouTube program.

The mid-budget MediaTek Helio P60 chip introduced in 2018 is responsible for the Simple Phone’s performance. The smartphone also comes with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a 4,500mAh battery.

Google’s “protected” smartphone has an IPS display with a diagonal of 6.53 inches and Full HD+ resolution. A sensor with a resolution of 25 MP is used as the front camera, and the main camera is represented by a sensor of 48 MP, supplemented by auxiliary sensors with a resolution of 8 MP and 5 MP. Presumably, this is an ultra-wide-angle camera and a macro module. At the same time, photos of the Simple Phone’s back panel show four camera modules, while the description claims three.

The Simple Phone will be priced at €400 and deliveries will begin on November 1, 2022.
