Today is the day, the long-awaited day, when Google will finally announce the long-awaited new generation of its smartphones, the Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro. Without as many surprises as at other events of this typeThe truth is that (perhaps with the intention of putting an end to rumours) it was the company itself that had been giving us a lot of information about what was to come this generation since Google I/O 2022.
Now, even though we already had enough information about them, there were so many more in the air. Some were about its technical specifications, others about the exclusive features of Android 13 on Google smartphones (ultimately Google on Google), and therefore what is the exclusive value proposition of es smartphones, which is coming to a market so competitive that you either manage to stand out in some way or you have something to lose. Y The good news is that Google seems to have done its homework..

Some certainties and many more doubts when checking these specs. The first certainty is found in its always on screen, built on a OLED panel with a diagonal of 6.3 inches, capable of providing FullHD + resolution (1,080 x 2,400 pixels, in a 20:9 aspect ratio) and with a remarkable density of 416 pixels per inch, with a refresh rate of 90 hertz, a brightness of up to 1,000 nits in HDR mode, which can be scaled up to 1,400 . Equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus for your protection.
The first uncertainty of this Google Pixel 7 is already inside its SoC, the Google Tensor G2, a proprietary integrated from the house, about which the company does not reveal much data, but which claims to improve the performance of the previous generation and that it focuses on two very important points: security and local processing (against the tendency to see on other platforms, processing information in the cloud) . In this way, in addition to improving privacy, it also substantially improves mobility and autonomy, since it is not dependent on an Internet connection.
All this without, of course, losing sight of the importance that artificial intelligence has for Google and how it is present in the design of this integration. SoC is accompanied 8 gigabytes of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 or 256 gigabytes of UFS 3.1 storage.
No surprises when it comes to connectivity, no surprises. This Google Pixel 7 apparently has 5G mobile connection (in truth, we are already approaching the moment when it will be assumed by default and that the novelty will have to be the absence of 5G in the terminal), which is supplemented in the wireless section by WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, global positioning and Google Cast (successor to Miracast). If we talk about cables, we will find only the connector USB-Cwhich we will use both for data transfer and for charging your battery.

In this regard, the Google Pixel 7 integrates a battery 4,355 milliamps, capable of providing an autonomy of more than 24 hours with average use (calculated by Google), which can be extended to less than 72, with an extreme battery saving function. With a fast charging feature, it lets you charge 50% in 30 minutes, and it also supports wireless charging and reverse charging (so use the Google Pixel 7 to charge other devices).
For photography lovers, the Google Pixel 7 main camera integrates two elements, a 50 megapixel wide angle with f/1.85 aa number 12 megapixel ultra wide angle f / 2.2 and is supported by a set of sensors, including laser detection autofocus (LDAF), and which are added to more processing and post-processing functions typical of the Google Pixel (and which are significantly supported by the aforementioned AI), and which make its photographic functions, generation after generation, one of the great strengths of the saga of Google smartphones. As for the front camera, which we find in the hole at the top center of the screen, it is supported by a 10.8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with an f/2.2 number.
Security is also an important aspect of the Google Pixel 7. It starts with its Gorilla Glass Victus screen, which I already mentioned, and to which we must add that its back also has this protection. IP68 certification. But we also have to mention what I hinted at earlier, the security features that start from the SoC itself. which integrates Titan M2 security chipsimilar to Windows’ Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and Apple’s Secure Enclave.
Its functions include protection of all encrypted data (including biometric data) as well as security The VPN service that Google One will offer from the end of the year, in clear response to the private iCloud relay that Apple has been offering since last year. And speaking of biometrics, note that the Google Pixel 7 adds facial recognition to fingerprint identification thanks to improvements to the phone’s front-facing camera.

Of course, it goes without saying that the Google Pixel 7 will hit the market with Android 13, the latest iteration of Google’s operating system for devices. In addition, and most likely on the way to adapt to new European legislation, this generation of Pixels will already allow up to five years of security updates (remember that European regulators advocate seven). As for operating system version updates, Google guarantees three years.
total, Google once again plays the balance trick with great mastery, with a smartphone that we can consider top-of-the-line, at a more than reasonable price, and which, instead of focusing on brute force, fundamentally bets on optimizing functions and performance thanks to software. A strategy that Apple has successfully followed for a long time and in which Google has shown great mastery in recent years.
And when, how and where can you get one of these new Google Pixel 7s? Well, there is some good news in that regard. The first is that it will be available from day one in Spain. for now is in advance, but as we can read in the official store, deliveries are scheduled for the middle of next week. It is available in three colors (lime green, snow and obsidian) and its price is 649 euros for the version with 128 gigabytes and a hundred euros more, 749 euros, for the version with 256.
