According to Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young, Apple plans to launch an external monitor with a 27-inch mini LED display in the first quarter of 2023.
In a tweet sent to super followers, Yang said that Apple is “postponing” the monitor’s debut to Q1 2023. Young is referring to the first calendar quarter of 2023, possibly January to March.
Young was a guest on the podcast MacRumors In July, he said that Apple plans to launch a mini LED display in early 2023. Yang originally expected Apple to unveil the display at WWDC in June, but said in May that the launch had to be delayed to October due to development delays. Apple also fails to meet its October target, and Young believes the company is now targeting 2023.
Throughout 2022, Apple is dealing with supply constraints for products that include Mac and its displays, which could be a reason for the delay.
Apple’s upcoming display is said to feature mini-LED technology along with ProMotion support and provide a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The device is not expected to be a direct replacement for the Pro Display XDR, which is a larger 6K display. Instead it will look like the Apple Studio Display, which is a 27-inch monitor. With ProMotion support and mini-LED technology, the rumored 27-inch display is expected to cost more than the Studio Display, which starts at $1,599.
