Yesterday, Google announced several new devices, including the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, as well as its first smartwatch. It also gave us a glimpse of the Pixel Tablet, promising to launch next year. Users were also waiting to hear some announcements about the “Pixel Fold”, allegedly the first foldable phone from Google.

While no one expected the company to introduce a sophisticated device at the Made by Google event, users questioned the existence of the device as Google did not share any updates. However, Ross Young, prominent image analyst and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), reiterated that Google’s foldable device is still in the works for a 2023 release.

Thanks to Young’s industry resources, we now have an idea of when it will hit the market. With panel shipments starting in January next year, the company is reportedly planning to launch its highly anticipated foldable phone in the first quarter of 2023.

The alleged Pixel phone has already faced numerous delays. It was originally supposed to come out in 2021, but that clearly didn’t happen. It tried to launch it again this year, but overall performance wasn’t up to par with devices like the Galaxy Z Fold3, which led to another delay. This time around, it’s apparently targeting Q1 2023 for launch. If all this is true, the alleged Pixel Fold could be the first foldable phone of 2023 from a big brand like Google.

Young previously claimed that the alleged Pixel Fold will have a “new chipset” and 120Hz display. The outer screen is expected to be smaller than that of the Fold3. We may get more information about the technical specifications and other important details of the device in the coming months.
