OPPO held a ‘Design in Tech’ workshop at the London Design Festival 2022. Zaha Hadid Architects Manager Patrik Schumacher and Royal College of Art Professor Rama Gheerawo gathered at a workshop to discuss the combination of technology and design.

Patrik Schumacher, Director of Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), Professor Rama Gheerawo, Director of the Royal College of Art Helen Hamlyn Design Center, and design professionals composed of young talents spoke about the combination of technology and design while sharing their experiences. As part of the festival, OPPO hosted the OPPO Renovators 2022 exhibition, featuring the winners of the Renovators Emerging Artists Project and product designs.

Design experts discussed the future of technology and design

OPPO and Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) will collaborate on the new OPPO headquarters project from 2020. ZHA Director Patrik Schumacher, who gave an inspiring speech in the context of the event, discussed ZHA’s design philosophy and presented his ideas about the relationship between people, technology and design. Schumacher stated that technology is a fundamental concept for the freedom and well-being of people and said that technology is the real dynamic that will move the world forward.

Professor Rama Gheerawo, one of the advocates of the inclusive design approach, spoke of the importance of this idea in the following words: “People’s response is a fundamental part of accessibility. This response is like the happiness you feel when you hold a smartphone with a comfortable, smooth touch; It is part of accessibility and inclusive design.”

Work by young artists on display at Renovators 2022

Launching the Renovators Emerging Artists project in 2019, OPPO aims to empower young artists around the world by creating a global competitive environment and encouraging them to innovate through art and technology. As part of the London Design Festival, OPPO hosted the Renovators 2022 exhibition at Cromwell Place. The exhibit featured works by the winners of the 2022 Renovators Competition, which ended in early September. After the workshop, participants also went to the exhibition space to see the work of young artists from more than 30 countries. The exhibition, which welcomed many visitors, fascinated the guests with the stylish designs of OPPO products and inspiring creative artworks. The artists who entered the exhibition by winning the Renovators 2022 competition had the opportunity to express their views on many topics such as smart living, low-carbon and environmental protection, traditional cultural heritage, technology, human and social development.
