Tencent shared the format and calendar details of the 2022 Honor of Kings International Championship (KIC), the final tournament of this year.
The exciting countdown has begun for the 2022 Honor of Kings International Championship, the biggest and final tournament of the year with a $10 million prize pool. The KIC 2022, which is expected to be held at the end of November, will consist of three phases; qualifiers, wildcard qualifiers and main groups. Qualifiers and wildcard qualifiers will begin at the end of November, while the main group stages will begin on December 3. The final of the tournament, where teams compete for top honors, will take place on December 30.
A total of 16 teams from different countries and regions will compete in the KIC group stages. There are 8 teams of KPL (King Pro League) tournament which is held in China. In addition to the summer KPL champions, The Chongqing Wolves, and the top-ranked Wuhan eStarPro teams in the Champions League, 12 teams ranked by Champions League points will battle to become one of the remaining 6 teams.
In addition to the KPL, 4 teams from Turkey, Brazil, Mexico and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) will compete in KIC. With the eliminations held in October, 4 teams will be determined to advance to the finals. Teams selected with a wildcard from the other countries will be the last 4 teams remaining in the group stage on November 22. This year, the KIC tournament will be hosted by two different cities, Shenzhen in China and Seoul in South Korea.
