If it’s been a year since Nintendo surprised us with a news announcement Super Mario Bros.including styling and the actors responsible for voicing the characters in their original English versions, we now have a preview of what we’ll see next March 31, 2023scheduled premiere date.

Premiere of a new movie Super Mario Bros.In fact, it will be a celebration of the almost-missed 30th anniversary of the first horror film starring Bob Hoskins as Mario, John Leguizamo as Luigi, and Dennis Hopper as Bowser Koopa in 1993. Legend has it that Hoskins and Leguizamo, aware of the mess they were making committed, they very often came with more than one extra drink on set.

But almost thirty years have passed since then, and thanks to technological developments, a new film Super Mario Bros. It will be everything we ever wanted with the wishes of the movie Super Mario Bros., of course. And there are things that have their place and that should be enough, as it can be in this case. But at Nintendo their job is to make money and see how Sonic does… why not give it a shot?

Well, they’re going to try it big. This is how they introduced this new mountebank plumber audiovisual career in an exclusive Nintendo Direct this week, official trailer included:

“Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (who worked together on the animated series Teen Titans Go Y Teen Titans Go: The Movie) with a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2 and Minions: Rise of Gru), the film features a cast that includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong , Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalo as Spike.

Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto are producing the film. SUPER MARIO BROS: THE MOVIE is co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures.”

So whether you like it or not, mario is going to star in a movie again And this time, yes, it looks good. Among other things, because there are characters similar to those from this particular Nintendo universe (even though Donkey Kong and others will be around as well) that, due to sheer plasticity, can never be portrayed as well as in an animated film like the new Super Mario Bros..

The little that the trailer promises, and aside from Mario’s over-the-top bun face, although that’s a personal appreciation that might not agree with everyone, everything seems to be in place and in the right tone. Well, not all, and the fact is that the first criticisms of some blamed the error of Pratt’s dubbing, of course compared to Charles Martinet, even though we hardly hear a few words from him…

And what do you want me to tell you, but it sounded good to me – while it’s true that Jack Black as Bowser is great – I can’t imagine a whole movie with Martinet’s dick – which is perfect in games, but in the dialogue head would explode – and … here in Spain and in many other places in the world, we will see him dubbed by dubbing professionalsso… I’m not a bit worried about that aspect.

What another arrival of the film by that Super Mario Bros. is that depending on how well it goes, the same thing is planned to be done with the same thing The Legend of Zeldawhich, by the way, is more suitable for this type of experiment and is no better example than the previous one The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for illustration, as its art design could easily have come from Studio Ghibli, but…

But that is another story that is often told. For now, we are left with a short preview of the film by Super Mario Bros., in his Spanish version of Spain. If you’re interested in seeing it dubbed, the international trailer is above.
