Every company tries to make games in some way, whether it’s their own games or accessories. Apple has also noticed the growth of games in recent years and introduced its own spin-off called Apple Arcade. Apple Arcade is a series of exclusive games that can only be played on Apple devices. They now have plans to further expand their reach in this industry by developing their own controllers.

According to patents filed by Apple and the Techspot report, they appear to be working on three types of controllers, and there’s no way of knowing if they will release all 3 of them or just the best ones. The first style is similar to other console controllers, Apple has already provided the ability to connect controllers for Xbox and PlayStation, it looks like this style will be a spin-off of the two.

The second style seems to have been inspired by the Nintendo Switch. The controllers appear to be removable and are attached to both sides of the device using Apple MagSafe technology. Many hope that these removable sides will provide the capabilities of a multiplayer game and act as two different controllers when removed.

The third style, which Apple seems to be working on, is completely different and has never been seen before. This style includes a folding cover that looks like a safe. The folding lid will act as a screen valve that can be used when opening and a protective film for the screen when closed. This design appears to have been inspired by another Nintendo device called the GameBoy.

Apple’s work on games is unheard of outside of some mobile gaming apps. Every user always turns to PC when thinking about board games. Apple doesn’t seem to want to take over the board game industry, but it uses its beautiful ecosystem to provide an integrated gaming process that includes both portable and board games. Source
