Our Readers Speak: What graphics card do you use for gaming? Planning to upgrade?

Buy a graphics card it is no longer impossible. In recent weeks, prices have improved a lot thanks to the normalization of the market, and it is already possible to find interesting offers in both AMD and NVIDIA catalogs. We hope that in the coming weeks things will get even better, although I also understand that we are in a difficult situation because the new generations are finally just around the corner.

For this reason, many preferred to wait before running an update on their graphics card. You might be one of them, but you’ve stopped to think carefully if you really need to update your chart? Maybe you have a model that is still quite capable and jumping to another model is not really worth it. For example, anyone who owns a GeForce RTX 3090 or GeForce RTX 3090 Ti or Radeon RX 6900 XT-6950XT today shouldn’t feel the need to upgrade anytime soon.

However, it is ultimately a topic that also it depends on everyone. There are users who have a high-end graphics card and always want to have the best of the best, and others who find in the new technologies presented by NVIDIA more than enough motivation to make the leap to the next generations. This is understandable, because after all, DLSS 3 promises a significant improvement over the current generation, and the ray tracing performance offered by the GeForce RTX 40 series is clearly better than the current generation.

To determine if you need to upgrade, you need to think about your aspirations, budget, and the improvement you’ll get compared to the graphics card you currently have. In my case, on my personal computer I have a GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and I’m playing at 1440p on a 144hz G-Sync compatible monitor so I don’t need to upgrade until I decide to go to a 4K monitor. I bought in 2019 GeForce RTX 2080 Supera model that was already very capable at 1440p, but with a GeForce RTX 3090 Ti I have noticed a significant improvement in terms of fluidity in many games when ray tracing is activated.

A user who had a GeForce RTX 2060 and played at 1440p yes, you should start thinking about upgrading your graphics card, especially if you want to play around with ray tracing and keep full fluidity. I am giving you this example as a reference because in the end, as we have told you in many guides, there are many factors to consider.

Now it’s your turn to tell us what graphics card you are using and if you plan to upgrade this year or next year. As always, read on in the comments.
