Microsoft introduced the sidebar search feature in Edge over a year ago, and over time it has evolved into something that can run services like Microsoft Outlook. It gets even better as Microsoft adds the ability to resize the sidebar in Edge Canary.

Reddit user Leopeva64-2 claimed that a new resizable sidebar was included in the latest Edge Canary update, but we were unable to recreate the changes in Edge Canary version 107.0. So it can be a controlled application. Fortunately, a Reddit user posted some pictures explaining how it works.

First, you don’t need to enable the checkbox to be able to resize the sidebar. It can be used by default if Microsoft has distributed it for you. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you need to hover over the area that separates the page content from the sidebar panel. When you do, you will see a pair of arrows that will allow you to resize the panel.

As the user noted, there are some limitations to this. For example, you cannot resize the Favorites, History, Downloads & Collections, and Outlook panes. But this is something that may change in the future, and we hope it will. Fortunately, any other sites and apps you add can be resized.

Google recently started working on a similar sidebar feature for Chrome. But for now, all it does is display the search results. Of course Google would like the sidebar to be much larger in the future.
