What’s up? doubles the maximum capacity of groups again. A year ago they could have a maximum of 256 participants, this year the number has increased to 512, and now the app has enabled a limit that is double that for some people: 1,024 people.

For now Meta hasn’t made any official statements. Regarding the new 1,024 participant limit for a group, though it’s common for news to be discovered before the company goes public. What is not so common is that the innovation is activated without prior notice to users, but only a few seem to get the new limit.
This new slack limit comes in time to start the communities function, in a larger scope (for example, members of a community of neighbors), may need groups with more users than the previous 512. The number is high, but pales in comparison to the 200,000 people Telegram supports.
