Those who know me must already imagine the struggle that is going on inside of me right now. And so it is that one part, professional, is forcing me to write this message, but the other, playful, is asking me to open Minecraft and I need to investigate this creature as soon as possible, that I devote as many hours as needed to it, and if it is done during the day, then I will take it easy on Tuesday. Luckily I write and I’m old enough to stay up all night for a game, but I’ll probably go to bed thinking about it.
We’ve talked about it on occasion before In addition to being a game, Minecraft is also a canvas. Or to be more precise, a block building game, such as LEGO, TENTE, Meccano and the like. The creative mode (here we will tell you about the different modes of Minecraft), either with only the features of the game or with the help of external tools (something necessary after a certain point), the apparent simplicity of the game, its blocks, physics and functions, are what makes it a formidable platform for creation.
An example of this, and it blew my mind a few years ago because of its exceptional quality, was a map that reproduced the world of Harry Potter and also designed an adventure that put us in the shoes of a young wizard. I still have nightmares when I think about how long it must have taken to create it, and the generosity of its creator in offering it for free never ceases to amaze me.
And today we know about another project, already completed, equally fascinating, whose presentation we can see in this video. And it’s ChrisDaCow, a popular Minecraft map creator who has previously surprised us with other creations, such as an impressive reproduction of Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night, just posted a minecraft reproduction of the known universe.
In this case, yes, the map is paid, although its price seems negligible, and its creator offers his maps to those users who support him through Patreon. He offers a selection of his creations for two euros a month, all inclusive of maps of the Universe and a reproduction of a Van Gogh painting for 4.50 euros a month. However, it is important to clarify at this point that the maps are not a subscription service, so it is possible to register for one month, download them and then unsubscribe. Of course, this is left to the choice of each of them.
The map was created for Minecraft Java (don’t forget that we explain the differences between Java and Bedrock here), but before you start regretting buying Bedrock back then, also remember that with the arrival of Minecraft 1.19, Microsoft decided to give away more to users who already have one of them they had And it, if you had Java they will give you Bedrock and vice versa. And of course, those who buy it today will get direct access to a bundle that includes both versions.
To create a map that ChrisDaCow says is the biggest challenge he’s faced yet, worked full-time on the project for two months, although we understand that advance planning may take longer. And with all that, both with regard to the level of detail and the care taken to preserve the scale of some of the elements and, of course, the huge volume, she was able to create it in that time. Heck, I’m no pro, but I’d probably have to think about it for a month if I could do it or not. Here we have without doubt an example of an option that has been considered for some time and that is Minecraft as a job.
For creation, of course external tools such as the infallible WorldEdit were used, which allows you to create large areas with just a few commands. Otherwise, such block-by-block creation could take years and thus be mentally and even physically exhausting. Considering the pictures, this is tangible proof that the effort was worth it, and that for at least a month (probably longer, although as I said, it’s a personal decision), I will be a patron of this creator. See you in the minecraft nebula!
