More than a dozen American websites, including several major US airports, were blocked on Monday by alleged cyberattacks by Russian-speaking hackers.

Kirsten Todt, chief of staff of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), said this at a conference in Maryland on Monday, Ukrinform reported, citing CNN.

“We are monitoring the development of events and there is currently no fear of disruption of activities (infrastructure objects subject to attack – ed.),” said the head of CISA.

According to preliminary information, 14 websites were hacked. Among them are named, including major international airports in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago.

Hacker group Killnet has claimed responsibility for cyberattacks on airports. It is known that this Russian-speaking organization openly supports the policy of the Kremlin, but direct links with the Russian leadership have not yet been established.

The type of cyber attack used by Killnet is known as a “distributed denial of service attack” (DDoS); In this attack, hackers flood computer servers with fake web traffic to take them offline.

As reported, powerful DDoS attacks were used by hackers on monobank fundraising pages for kamikaze drones from Ukrainian volunteers and activists.
