According to analyst Anas Baig, among the main threats to network security in the 21st century, both private individuals and businesses can be considered ransomware. The expert noted that starting such programs is relatively easy, and both ordinary Internet users and large enterprises can be victims. Traditionally, the author has highlighted the threat of DDoS attacks, which in some cases can cause devastating losses.

The increased risk to consumers is associated with the use of Internet of Things (IoT) tools and cloud services. “Because IoT devices are often connected to the internet, they can be hacked and used to launch attacks”, – noted the expert. Anas Baiga has called the cryptocurrency mining malware that can slow down gadgets and harm users.

The development of quantum computers is a threat to traditional cryptography because such machines can guess a password in a short time. Finally, the analyst noted the growth of internal threats from employees of organizations with access to critical infrastructure.
