Intel Unveils NUC 13 Extreme “Raptor Canyon”

At TwitchCon, Intel unveiled the NUC 13 Extreme, the next version of its modular PC, which, as its codename “Raptor Canyon” suggests, will be based on thirteenth-generation Core processors.

The NUC 13 Extreme will be even bigger than the previous model. This confirms that Intel is continuing the trend away from small form factors. This does not mean that the manufacturer does not launch smaller NUC models, popular as references in mini-PCs, but they will have to be in other lines.

This NUC Extreme will be sized 13.9 liters. Significantly larger than the 8-liter Extreme 12. And it’s because these types of dedicated gaming PCs need the size to house components like dedicated graphics cards. And they are not particularly small.

The new generation accommodates even larger 2.5 cards and up to three slots. The official presentation at TwitchCon featured GeForce RTX 30 GPUs, though it’s certain they’ll feature custom Arc Alchemist graphics at launch.

As for the processor, an undisclosed Raptor Lake was used, surely one of the models the top-of-the-line ‘S» series for desktop computersCore i7-13700K, although Intel will offer several versions up to the top of the line Core i9-13900K.

The rest of the components haven’t been detailed, but you can expect plenty of supported RAM (up to 64GB DDR5) and storage with several M.2 for PCIe SSDs. The final specifications of this ‘Raptor Canyon’, price and availability will be finalized in a few weeks.
