There are many monitors on the market, but they are all pretty similar – only the curved models stand out. Philips decided to diversify this area by presenting a very unusual monitor 24B1D5600 with a cross standard screen and an electronic ink screen (E Ink). This is the first such decision in the world.
On the Philips 24B1D5600, both displays are installed side-by-side: the standard is a 23.8-inch liquid crystal matrix with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and covering 99.8 percent of the sRGB color space. The e-ink screen is smaller, at 13.3 inches with a resolution of 1600×1200 pixels.
According to the manufacturer, an additional E Ink type display is needed for these situations when users need to get used to long documents. Such a screen does not strain the eyes more than ordinary paper, because they are less tired (E Ink technology is widely used in e-books).
The Philips 24B1D5600 retails for 5,999 yuan ($838) in China.
