As we reminded you yesterday, Minecraft Live 2022 will take place next Saturday, October 15, and no doubt the main role falls on Minecraft 1.20. We expect more announcements of course, especially more information about Minecraft Legends and also, hopefully, those new things based on the Minecraft universe that will arrive in the future, although we don’t know names, dates or anything, absolutely nothing about them. We expect a full and fun event as always, but with a focus on the next big update, Minecraft 1.20.
Nothing is officially known yet, absolutely nothing about this future update. Like every year, barring an unexpected surprise, Mojang will dedicate its annual online event in October, which will replace MineCon from 2020, to predicting the future version, so for now we can only rely on assumptions, maybe some hint given by Mojang and outstanding debts. However, with these elements alone, we already have a basis to try to predict Saturday’s announcement, and that is to try to find out what new features Minecraft 1.20 will offer us.
There are basically three ways that Minecraft can evolve in this new version, but it is important to clarify that they are not mutually exclusive. The key to whether Mojang goes one, two, or all three routes is primarily the workload of each compared to what the development team is able to anticipate under normal conditions. And it may seem like proselytizing, but I never tire of reminding you that the Agnes Larsson-led studio puts the well-being and health of its workers before the fulfillment of certain goals, as it already demonstrated at the time with the launch. from Minecraft 1.17.
With that, let’s see why Minecraft 1.20 can evolve in three ways.
unpaid debts
The Caves & Cliffs Update was originally supposed to be Minecraft 1.17, but ended up being 1.18 as well and expanded to Minecraft 1.19 with the long-awaited debut of the Warden. And the truth is this there is still something left to do that was promised for 1.17: archaeology. Postponed sine to die, and although it was mainly confusing at first, the truth is that a well-developed one can provide even more emotions when exploring the subsoil. There is, yes, no sign of its presence in Minecraft 1.20, but it still makes sense to continue waiting for its arrival.
In this update, we can expect several new things related to biomes:
Desert: meerkats, palm trees and oases are the main novelties that would be added to this biome, in addition to the renovation in cacti.
Sheet: It would also come with a new type of wood, decaying plants and maybe some crowd next.
Badlands: they could have rolled plants, also add new cacti and such crowd a vulture star that would reproduce the allay mechanic… but keep everything it catches.
birch forest: Probably one of the most boring biomes out there, the community has been clamoring for an update for quite some time now. And according to some rumors, his time may finally have come.
They are also backlogged because they came out of Minecraft 1.19 at the last minute: backpacks. The only issue seems to have had to do with it running on touchscreen devices, so expect them to debut in Minecraft 1.20 with more than enough time to fix it.
Minecraft 1.20: The End Update
Personally, the clothes do not hurt me to admit that it is my favorite option and in addition I think most likely. The Overworld (including its subsoil) has undergone constant improvements, and many still remember the sensational taste left by Minecraft 1.16, a great update to the Nether that added new biomes, crowdsstructures… in short, an update that completely rediscovered this dimension, but of course, at the same time, eyes rested on the End, to the point that many expected him to be the main hero of Minecraft 1.17, even though he was not Tak in the end.
Now that Caves & Cliffs is almost done and Overworld news is coming in the form of The Wild Update, Mojang has been able to focus on the update the dimension that has not experienced takes the longest to update and improvements. Biomes, mobs, structures… the room for growth in this dimension is exceptional, it’s also something that many users have been calling for for a while, and frankly, it’s the part of the game that needs this change the most.
Against him of course is the dimension least visited by players, especially for the more “occasional” ones. The challenge of facing a dragon is (or was, until the Warden came along) possibly the most difficult in the game. So if Mojang wants to satisfy as many users as possible, they may decide to hold off on this update for some time. However, I personally don’t think so. I think minecraft 1.20 will finally completely redo this dimension.
New combat system
It is known that Jeb (Jens Bergensten), one of the most respected and popular members of the Minecraft development team, l.has been working on a redesign of the combat system for some time now. Not much is known, but changes are expected in both the use of weapons and tools, as well as hand-to-hand combat. PvP (player vs player) is extremely popular on many servers, but despite this, its last major update dates back to 2016, with Minecraft 1.9.
We can’t expect, at least in principle, that combat will be the main protagonist of this update (since it was already in Minecraft 1.9), but yes, it’s an important part of the update, themed or not. The question now, of course, is whether we’ll see it in Minecraft 1.20 or if we’ll have to wait for a future update.
