Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Information reported that with the help of an American company, authorities quickly restored communications in critical areas. The country’s Minister of Digital Information, Mykhailo Fedorov, said on Wednesday that the Starlink global satellite system, owned by the American company SpaceX, is helping to renew energy and communications infrastructure in critical regions of Ukraine.

“More than 100 cruise missiles attacked energy and communications infrastructure [України]. But with the help of Starlink, we quickly restored communication in critical areas,” Fedorov wrote on Twitter.

Citing the Ukrainian military and government officials, the Financial Times reported that some Starlink internet devices that had been shut down due to outages have been back online in the past few days, restoring vital communication lines in territory recently liberated from Russian invaders.

In February, as Ukraine suffered internet outages following the Russian invasion, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said that Starlink satellite broadband service is now available in the country and SpaceX is sending additional terminals to Ukraine.

The Starlink Global Satellite System was deployed by SpaceX to provide high-speed broadband satellite Internet access to locations where communications are unreliable, expensive, or unavailable for various reasons. SpaceX’s satellite systems research, development and manufacturing division is located in Redmond, Washington. Source
