Line PIXI by Catit, our well-known specialist in cat products, has a new member in the family. It is the Catit PIXI 6 portion Smart Feeder. Easily recognizable by the usual adorable design that mimics a cat’s physiognomy (including ears and whiskers), this new feeder is here to add variety to our pets’ diets (and make our lives a little easier, it must be said).

On this occasion, we will find ourselves in front of the feeder, which will offer us up to 6 portions of varied food, which will allow us to adapt the eating habits of the furry ones. However, this does not mean that the feeder has to be replenished daily, as you can spread these doses over up to 4 days. So you can use it, for example, for specific portions of wet food and combine it with the Smart Catit PIXI feeder for portions of dry food.

The Catit PIXI Smart Feeder 6 servings works like a kind of roulette with 6 places, in which you will put the desired portions of food without the fear of it spoiling, or if it is summer, that it will get hot, melt and even spoil. This is thanks to the two cold accumulators that the feeder contains under the food tray (which we have to freeze in advance), and which will allow us to store food for longer. It’s also very easy to assemble and the food tray is removable so it can be washed at the end of each cycle. You can wash it by hand or in the dishwasher.

One of these 6 holes will always be open in the “smile” of the feeder, so if you fill it completely, you must count on the fact that one of the doses will be directly available to our pet. The rest of the rations will be hidden by the cat-shaped lid, so no hungry michi will be able to steal the food in advance.

The rotation of the tray to keep the food available has a completely cat-safe mechanism that stops rotating if it encounters any resistance. You can rest easy because it won’t harm our furry friends’ feet in any way. In case of an obstacle, the tray will also stop rotating and the app will send us a notification to let us know. After a 60-second pause, the feeder will automatically try to rotate again.

A small disadvantage of the device is that, since it is a tub that works horizontally, it is somewhat bulky and can be a little more difficult to find its place at home, if we compare it with a more compact feeder and a smart fountain of the same range.

The best companion for your meal

As we have already mentioned with this type of device, one of the biggest benefits of distributing our cat’s food in several small portions is to help with food anxiety and binge eating. By dividing their daily intake into several portions, we ensure that they are more balanced and less demanding. And best of all, it will continue even when we’re not home.

As we’ve seen with other PIXI products, this smart feeder includes a back compartment with backup batteries (not included) so that in the event of a power outage, the device will run for up to about 4 days without issue.

Customize your menu easily

The meal plan and schedules are customizable both through the application and through the touch control LCD display.

This touch LCD control panel is one of the novelties of the Catit PIXI Smart Feeder 6 servings. It is found in the “nose” of our feeder and can be used to program meals or to immediately serve the next portion. Requires touch pattern to unlock. Like the app, it is synchronized in real time with the feeder. In it you can also see what time the next meal is served.

This app is the same one we downloaded earlier to manage the fountain and feeder, which unifies and simplifies the management of all Catit PIXI devices. With it, we can easily configure a 24-hour feeding schedule for our cat, which will automatically repeat itself every day.

Here, as we have already discussed with the Catit PIXI Smart Feeder, we lack the ability to set up several different meal plans. This would be useful, for example, if we choose a combination of both feeders, one with dry food and one with wet food and treats, and we want to alternate the proportion of food a little. Again, this is something that is controlled by software, so maybe it could be updated in the future.
