Google’s parent company, Alphabet, may face charges related to digital advertising violations following an antitrust investigation in the European Union that began last June. This was reported by the Reuters agency. According to the results of the case, it was noted that the IT company faced a fine of over one billion euros.
According to Reuters sources, the European Commission was not satisfied with the concessions Google made after the start of the investigation. In the EU, they believe, as before, that the hegemony of the American company in the field of internet advertising threatens healthy competition in the market.
The European Union is expected to file a formal charge early next year. New litigation materials are being prepared to be sent to the American tech giant’s lawyers before Google has the opportunity to resolve the dispute through a pre-trial procedure.
The new fine could be Google’s fourth fine in this investigation. Reuters recalls that over the past 10 years, the EU has requested a total of about eight billion euros from Google in antitrust lawsuits.
