A video has surfaced on the Unbox Therapy YouTube channel showing a prototype of the canceled Apple AirPower wireless charging mat.

The owner of the channel showed that only one of the 22 coils worked in the prototype.It began to charge the smartphone, but it is impossible to evaluate its efficiency. Also, touching the bottom of the device gave the blogger a serious electric shock.

There are also a number of restrictions that affect charging when using AirPower, for example, you only need to use the original Apple cable. Also, it is not recommended to leave the device on for more than a minute as it starts to get very hot. At the same time, the Apple Watch from the prototype does not charge, contrary to the company’s initial announcement.

AirPower was first introduced to the public at Apple’s fall presentation in 2017. It was assumed that the device can simultaneously charge three devices – iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods. Later, the development of AirPower was officially canceled due to the inability to solve some engineering tasks.
