WhatsApp is an app where something is hard not to notice. Can you delete a message? WhatsApp makes it very clear with “This message has been deleted”. Will you leave the group? WhatsApp notifies all participants with “Jose Juan has left the group” (at least until the changes we discussed a while ago arrive). And as expected, same will be in edited messages.

We’ve known for a long time that WhatsApp tries to allow editing of messages, i.e. changing sent text for things like correcting a typo, adding commas to make the phrase more meaningful. Now we know, courtesy of WaBetaInfo, that we too will show when we edit a message in the purest Telegram style.

On May 31, in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android, WaBetaInfo discovered that WhatsApp was trying to edit already sent messages. We saw a new screenshot of this feature on September 16th and now finally, We can see what an edited message will look like in WhatsApp.

As detailed by WaBetaInfo, in beta version 2.22.20.12 of WhatsApp for Android, when a message is edited, The text “Edited” will appear next to it. The application should indicate in this way that the message has been changed, both to our interlocutor and to ourselves. It is the same behavior as in Telegram.

We don’t know if in any way, You will be able to access the history of messages (To see the changes made). We also don’t know if a message sent to one chat, forwarded to another chat, and then edited will be changed to reflect this edit.
