Applications where you allow login credentials through social networks can cause major problems if not taken care of. If you sign up, an app you just downloaded can steal your Facebook data. 400 applications logged in with a Facebook account but trying to steal your information were detected and removed from the application markets. Security experts from BeyazNet recommend that you register for each application with email and do not log in to another application with social media credentials or research the permissions properly.

Last week, Meta announced that it has detected more than 400 Android and IOS apps that are stealing credentials from Facebook users. From photo editors to games, from VPN services to business apps, many utilities were included in this list.

42.6 of the apps that use it to steal credentials are photo editors. This is followed by business gadgets (15.4), phone gadgets (14.1), games (11.7), VPNs (11.7) and lifestyle apps (4.4). Interestingly, most iOS apps turned out to be ad management tools for Meta and its Facebook subsidiary. In fact, it turned out that he also posted fake reviews and comments in a way that reduced the exposure of negative reviews. A total of 402 applications, of which 355 Android, were taken off the market.

EASY PROMISES CAN RISK YOUR INFORMATION

Drawing attention to the fact that the applications we install on our phones are allowed because it is easy to log in with social media accounts, BeyazNet CTO Akgün Yavaş said: “Be careful when installing all social networks and other applications that require access, especially Facebook . It is very important to give permission by checking what permission you have given. It should also examine the authenticity of the developers of the app. The promise of a new convenience may lead to the theft of information from both you and your friends list, loved ones, processing your information without your consent, or even transferring this information to unrelated third parties.Instead of sharing application information for convenience, we recommend that they create a new membership with their email address, we should definitely show the same sensitivity on our phones and tablets as we do on computers.”
