Microsoft has announced a new hacker group attacking Ukrainian and Polish companies with new ransomware. This applies to transport and logistics companies.

According to the software giant, the first attacks were recorded last Tuesday, they are not linked to any known groups so far. By the way, according to the source, the attacks are very similar to previous attacks by a Russian hacker group, which has already attacked the systems of government agencies in Ukraine.

“The use of hostile programs on such a scale is not a common phenomenon in Ukraine, and this activity is not associated with any of the 94 currently active groups using hostile programs monitored by Microsoft. ‘, said the researchers.

The current attack used software called Prestige. This program encrypts the data on the victim’s computer and leaves a ransom message stating that the data can only be unlocked by purchasing a decryption tool. It is also stated that in some cases, hackers gain administrative access to victims’ computers and then send ransomware over the network. His credentials are believed to have been stolen before.
