The American company Google has launched an open test of private booths for Starline video chats. This has been reported by ArsTechnica.

It is stated that the mysterious project was first known in 2021, but within a year Google openly confirmed the existence of the platform. So far, tests are only conducted in the United States.

The company is the Starline of extended tests “more accessible“. The service looks like a version of video chat in a small room where a person is sitting, and in front of him is a huge screen on which the interlocutor is displayed.

14 cameras and 16 infrared projectors are housed in each of these cabinets. Together they work to create a photorealistic 3D user avatar in real time. Four microphones and two loudspeakers are also placed in the room for communication.

The screen is a 65-inch panel with 8K resolution. Google has also positioned the table and screen to hide the bottom of the TV. This is done in order to make the human brain even more convinced of the reality of the opposite avatar.
