Windows 23 or how Microsoft could improve its operating system

Microsoft recently updated Windows 11 with its first major update, and the successor to Windows 12 is already on the horizon. Others go further and consider Windows 23 the “perfect” operating system.

As always when we talk about them Proof of concept It should be emphasized that the design exercise has nothing to do with actual computer development. Transforming drawings into “1s and 0s” while maintaining hardware and software compatibility of an ecosystem as gigantic as Windows is very complicated.

That said, there are different ones designers who design Microsoft ideas. Surely more than one Redmond employee already has them in mind, but the difficulty lies in what has been said: to translate it into real development.

Windows 23: everything for customization

The concept RA 478 commitment to personalization as a big goal. And it’s something the Windows of the future need to eat, because right now you’re either using third-party apps or have little to do with the tools provided by Microsoft.

The proposed design has several salient features, but main panelHighly customizable, it’s definitely the star of the show, allowing you to completely change its look. Not only can its placement on the desktop be chosen, but it can also be divided into separate sections.

The Start menu, another workhorse still being revised since the fantastic Windows 7, has been revised and can be placed on the left or right side or in the middle. The file browser has been redesigned with a smart card system.

The general Settings tool has also been replaced and looks really good. Also updated notification center as well as Quick Settings, while the new Mini Widgets that can be accessed from the taskbar are a great touch and we appreciate the ability to drag them around the desktop.

A dark mode has also been added and even new themes, such as one based on the main one from Windows XP, for those who long for the old days. Themes are dynamic as expected from a modern system.

This concept brings Cortana back. The assistant has already shown its uselessness on the desktop, and Microsoft itself removed it from Windows 11, but its implementation is so successful, in the middle of a high-level user interface, that we will have to allow this creative license.

Do you like this Windows 23? Do you think design shots of future versions of Windows should go there? What would you include or remove to achieve the perfect interface?
