The South Korean giant reached a very important milestone by introducing the fastest LPDDR5X memory in the world and confirmed that it is a fully functional design, as it has been verified for use with the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platform. This means that its integration into high-end mobile devices is only a matter of time.

Samsung has confirmed that this new LPDDR5X memory reaches 8.5 Gbps, an impressive number that surpasses the 7.5 Gbps peak that the South Korean firm achieved in March of this year. The difference is 1 Gbps, and according to what we can read in the official statement published by the company, this increase in frequency was possible thanks to the optimization of the high-speed signal environment between the CPU and the memory.

This type of memory is designed for top-of-the-line and next-generation mobile devices, that is, for the more powerful devices that will soon arrive on the market and it doesn’t stand out just by offering high performancebut it has also been designed to achieve a high level of energy efficiency through adjusted consumption.

However, it is important to remember about LPDDR memory it has also spread to the world of computers and even to the world of high-performance computersso it’s very likely that Samsung’s new 8.5 Gbps LPDDR5X will also eventually appear in PCs and servers.

Faster LPDDR5X memory requires more bandwidthand that means a higher level of performance in many environments and with different applications. We don’t yet know which mobile device will be the first to use this 8.5 Gbps memory, but given that it has been certified for use with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform, we can expect it to debut in future generations of the Galaxy S series. from Samsung.

I don’t want to end without reminding you that LPDDR memories are also used in portable consoles. Without going any further The Steam Deck has LPDDR5 memoryand it’s very likely that Samsung’s new LPDDR5X memory will eventually give life to its successor, the Steam Deck 2, although its launch is still a long way off.
