Motorola company presented a conceptual version of a smartphone in which the diagonal size increases due to stretching of the screen. As CNET reports, the device was first demonstrated at the Lenovo Tech World 2022 conference.
Lenovo Luca Rossi’s VP personally demonstrated the smartphone in action. In the YouTube video, he pulled the device out of his jacket pocket.
In the shortened version, the diagonal of the novelty screen is only 5 inches, but when you press a special button on the side of the device, the screen stretches vertically and its size increases to 6.5 inches.
Rossi also made sure the screen would fill with content while yawning. For example, when starting a video on YouTube and turning the gadget to landscape, the smartphone will smoothly increase the size of the picture relative to the new diagonal.
Motorola has yet to say when such a smartphone will launch in the mass market. Conceptual gadgets with horizontally extending screens were previously demonstrated by LG and TCL.
