Last Thursday (13) a new Google Maps update was announced. The innovation is to allow users to view fares and more detailed information about the chosen route. The update is already available for Android and iOS systems.

By updating the values ​​on a daily basis, the new version also demonstrates alternative routes for the user. The data is updated through the database of local authorities, taking into account the place where the driver began to move. Some factors will be taken into account when calculating the cost, such as the day of the week and time, in the case of tolls, the cost of which varies.

The update also added more details to the maps. According to Google, added traffic lights and STOP signs along the route. If the user chooses free routes, there is an “Avoid Toll” feature.

Google Maps is not the only app with this feature.

In addition to the Google app, there are other options showing tolls, accidents, and alternative routes. One of them is Waze, an app similar to Google Maps. The difference of the application is that the information it uses is provided by the users themselves and is updated in real time. Like Maps, Waze allows the user to set up alternate routes with cheaper or no fares.

In addition to Waze, there is an application of the company Sem Parar, which is responsible for the automatic fare collection service. This feature, called Track Your Route, shows travel times, gas costs, tolls, and even suggests alternative routes. While not new, the new Google Maps feature makes the app even better.
