Xiaomi has released a new “camera” and launched the 3rd wave of MIUI 13 updates

For the first time in a long time, Xiaomi is releasing an update for one of the most important system programs – “Camera”. In addition to the visual changes, the new version has added several new settings and features that increase the functionality of smartphones.

In this article, we will talk in detail about what has changed, which update models can already be installed, and we will also share information about the “third wave” of MIUI 13 updates officially announced by Xiaomi.

Before we talk about the new features of the program, let’s take a look at some photos to show the difference between stable and current versions.

As you can see, the new version does better autofocus and sets a more accurate white balance value for some shots. It looks like Xiaomi has revised the blur factor, because when you select the object, the so-called “bokeh” looks more natural.

As for the new features, first you have to select the shooting mode, to activate it you have to select the burst mode where you have to press the shutter button and move it from right to left or vice versa, during which the screen will show the number of shots.

As a result, when you launch the gallery, all captured images (maximum 50) will be collected in one file where you can select one or more frames you like. This mod will be especially useful for capturing moving objects such as animals.

If you go into the program settings, you can see that an option has been added to the “Volume Button Function” section that activates the capture timer that Xiaomi announced six months ago.

Xiaomi has also redesigned some of the keys and we think they look more intuitive.

Smartphone owners running MIUI 13 (Android 12) can install the update, but a version for MIUI 12.5 (Android 11) should appear in the coming weeks.

Third wave of updates

An official statement from Xiaomi shed light on which smartphones will receive MIUI 13 from now on. Essentially, this means that by the end of May, global firmware versions (MI) will be released for:

MIUI 13

But it is worth noting that smartphone owners will have to wait longer for the Redmi Note 9, Redmi 9T and Redmi 9 than others. Due to compatibility issues, the firmware for these models will be released at the end of summer.

MIUI 13 (for smartphones listed above) RU, ID, etc. As for the release dates in their directory, Xiaomi plans to release the appropriate firmware by the end of July this year.
