Mercedes-Benz, one of the world’s leading car manufacturers, has announced that select vehicles will receive Apple Music spatial audio support.. The service with Dolby Atmos was announced by the company last year and has become available for a number of devices. Among them are iPhone, Mac, HomePod and Apple TV.

Although it comes for several Apple devices, this will be the first time it comes natively for a car. However, you’ll need to invest a reasonable amount of money, given that Maybach’s top-of-the-line S-Class, in addition to the electric EQS ​​and EQE models, is among the vehicles that will receive support.

The cost of the cars is about $100,000. However, interested buyers can add an optional Burmester system, which is divided into two different prices. The most basic version costs $4,500, while a more powerful version is available for $6,700.

Mercedes’ proposal to add Apple Music’s Dolby Atmos spatial audio to cars is to make audio more immersive than it is today. They are capable of distributing different sounds across the audio channels, giving drivers the experience of three-dimensional sound coming from the speaker. This same type of technology is present in headphones as is the case with Apple devices.

To provide superior sound quality for drivers, Mercedes has partnered with Universal Music Group. The goal is to mark some of these sounds as “Mercedes-Benz approved” to show when they will be better in cars with this support.
