As stated, the service will provide an Internet speed of up to 350 Mbit/s for each aircraft equipped with an Aero Terminal. The company said that this is sufficient for video calls, online games and other activities with high data transfer speeds.
The publication writes that this speed is much higher than what is currently offered on airplanes. Currently, the maximum speed of the Internet in the air reaches about 10 Mbps, while the connection is made only over continents, not over seas or oceans. Satellite systems offer Internet at speeds of 30 to 100 Mbit/s.
SpaceX emphasizes that the coverage will be global and will be available throughout the entire flight, both on land and over water, with a delay of just 20ms.
Deliveries are expected to begin in mid-2023.
As Ukrinform reported, at the beginning of October, the American company SpaceX placed 52 mini-satellites into orbit to renew the orbital group of the Starlink system’s global Internet coverage network.
