Enthusiasts have studied the source code of the firmware for Pixel series smartphones and found mentions of new Google devices in it. This was reported by GizmoChina. The data miner’s finding shows that Google is working on the all-new Pixel 7 Mini alongside the previously rumored foldable Pixel Fold smartphone.
Devices codenamed Felix and Lynx were found in the source code. The first word, according to experts, refers to the complex Pixel Fold smartphone, and the second – to the Pixel 7 Mini.
Google’s files have also revealed that the Pixel 7 Mini will have the same display that was previously used on the Pixel 6, 6a and 7. The new device will have at least the same Sony IMX712 ultra-wide-angle camera as the Pixel 7. new Google Bluetooth for smartphone – Qualcomm WCN6740 module.
According to the specified parameters, Pixel 7 Mini looks like a simplified version of Pixel 7. Google releases such smartphones every year as part of its “a” series. It’s hard to say whether the presence of data miners right now means that Google has decided to rename its range of affordable smartphones. Journalists do not rule out that, close to launch, the new product will still be called Pixel 7a.
GizmoChina also writes that there were previously rumors about a version of the Pixel 7 with a footnote called Ultra. However, it has not been possible to find a place in the source code that mentions this model.
