In the United States, operation of the T-45C Goshawk carrier-based trainer aircraft was suspended due to problems with the engine wings. This was reported by the US Navy, writes Defense News.
According to Rear Admiral Richard Brophy, US Navy and Marine Corps (MCC) T-45C flights have been halted. “Because of extreme care and concern for the safety of the pilots”. The US Navy press release did not say how the problem with the engine wings was discovered.
John Lemmon, head of the Navy’s Tactical Aviation Program, noted that the agency was working with Rolls-Royce round the clock to determine the cause of the engine failure.
Carrier-sourced T-45 Goshawk aircraft are used to train pilots for the US Navy and US Air Force. The basic version of the Rolls-Royce Turbomeca F405-RR-401 turbofan-powered T-45 made its maiden flight in 1988, and in 1997 the army received an upgraded T-45C aircraft.
