Ukraine will no longer have problems in serving Starlink satellite communication terminals from Elon Musk’s SpaceX company.

According to Ukrinform’s report, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov stated this in an interview with Politico.

He said senior Ukrainian officials were in direct contact with Musk to find a way to settle the dispute over SpaceX’s payment for Starlink terminals, which provide critical battlefield connectivity for Ukrainian forces.

“I know we will have no problem keeping the service (Starlink terminals – ed.) running,” Reznikov said, referring to the “personal communication” between Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov and Elon Musk.

According to him, Fedorov is “in charge of digitalization and has a direct connection with Elon Musk. He has personal communications and Mykhailo was very positive about the situation in his recent conversations on this topic.”

Reznikov explained that if the money issue comes up again, Ukraine has at least three sources of funding – an aid package from the Pentagon, Europe and private donors.

However, he added that regardless of funding, Ukraine will continue to communicate with Elon Musk’s company on a technical level.

Earlier, American media reported that SpaceX asked the US Department of Defense to take over payment for satellite Internet services provided by Starlink terminals in Ukraine.

Later, Musk clarified that he did not seek reimbursement of costs already incurred, but that he was unable to consistently finance the operation of the transferred terminals, which would cost the company more than $120 million. by the end of the year and about 400 million dollars. for the next 12 months.

After backlash against the SpaceX founder’s posts, Musk announced that he has decided to continue funding services. And this Monday, Musk announced that he will be creating a donation function on the checkout page for Starlink services. In addition, his company closed the issue and formally withdrew the request to the US Department of Defense.

After that, Mykhailo Fedorov said that Starlink terminals are working and will continue to work.
