Microsoft is testing a new program called PC Manager that will give users full control over operating system resources. The utility can clean temporary files, manage running programs and monitor for updates, remove viruses and much more. The company promises that users will be able to optimize their systems with the click of a button.
All things considered, the app looks like the popular CCleaner utility and some outside sources have already posted their screenshots.
PC Manager contains two main sections. The “Cleaning” tab contains functions that allow you to delete temporary files, logs and other unnecessary data. You can also manage all processes and programs working with the system from here. Another function allows you to check the general state of the system and detect some problems. In fact, all this can be done with built-in Windows tools, for example, with the help of the “Settings” program and the task manager. Here, it’s more of a convenience issue when the necessary functions are gathered in one place.
The Security tab allows you to check your computer for potential threats and make sure it has the latest updates from Windows Update. There’s also a “Browser Protection” option here, which is another way of promoting Edge. It recommends changing the default browser and recommends users to use Microsoft’s solution, although other installed browsers can be selected. The most interesting thing is what the program thinks “potential problem”When Edge is not the default browser and offers the fix.
PC Manager is currently in beta, although it’s not that easy to download. It is currently available on Microsoft’s Chinese website, and the app itself has only two languages - Chinese and English.
