Huawei presented the EMUI 13 firmware

Huawei unexpectedly introduced the EMUI 13 firmware, designed for the company’s phones sold outside of China – Chinese devices run HarmonyOS. It is no accident that EMUI 13 was released after the announcement of HarmonyOS 3.0: many interface elements for the new version of the global firmware are borrowed from the Chinese one. But it did not do without new functions.

Drag to Share lets you select text, select an image or file with a long press, and send it all to the SuperHub – a kind of clipboard where a file, image or text can be forwarded anywhere and in any way. With SuperHub you can also delete files or search for data in sent ones.

The SuperStorage function is designed to free up flash memory. Yes, by compressing unused app data, finding and deleting identical files, deleting unwanted files from downloads, etc. It can free up to 20GB of space.

The audio mirroring function allows you to broadcast an audio stream from a phone to two connected audio devices (for example, two pairs of headphones). The example shows the FreeBuds Pro 2, and it’s not yet clear if this feature will work with other headphones.

EMIUI 13 has increased security. Yes, users can see how often installed apps use user data. In addition, the system can scan programs for possible malware or warn about suspicious behavior of individual programs. Currently, Huawei has not yet announced when which phones will receive EMUI 13, but usually flagships are included in the first wave of updates. Source
