Microsoft is working on a cleaner program for Windows

As you know, Windows cannot automatically clean registry entries and folders containing unnecessary program files. Even remnants of deleted programs can be found system-wide. All this over time clogs the operating system and slows down its operation. As a result, PC optimization programs like CCleaner are popular with users. Microsoft also plans to join them.

what is known

The program is already available in public beta testing mode for residents of China. It works with Windows 10 and Windows 11. Some functions have been in the operating system for a long time – PC Manager actually collects them in one place.

According to the published screenshots, PC Manager will allow you to clean temporary files and manage running programs. It can also help you monitor resource usage and review Microsoft recommendations, such as switching your default browser and search engine to Edge and Bing respectively. Some statistics on the use of computer resources will also be available. The recommendations section of the app will remind you to turn off certain ones.

First users note that the program works quite fast. If you hit the “Upgrade” button, it can instantly free up 30-50% of the memory and clean up the accumulated temporary files.

Here is a list of features the company is currently testing:

  • PC Care – Clean files, uninstall programs and more with one click. This feature doesn’t mess up logs like CCleaner does.
  • Manage startup programs – Disable startup programs with one click to improve performance and startup time.
  • Manage and view running processes and perform actions using Task Manager.
  • Manage your storage – recent files, temporary files and more.
  • Scan for viruses with Defender.
  • Check for updates using Windows Update (this feature is actually a shortcut center for available features).
