One of the most important new features in Windows 11 is the ability to run Android apps. Apps also support push notifications, networking, access to cameras, printing and more. The Windows subsystem for Android is about to get even better, as a recently released roadmap shows.

WSA’s GitHub repository includes a roadmap detailing current features, unavailable features, and what’s new on Microsoft’s radar for future releases. According to the documents, Microsoft plans to update WSA to Android 13 and add support for file transfer, shortcuts, picture-in-picture and local network access.

Unfortunately, there is no word on when Microsoft will provide these features. With all this, the company often releases WSA updates with features. A few days ago, Microsoft released an update for WSA on its developer and beta channels with quality of life improvements and bug fixes. The Windows Subsystem for Android is available to Windows 11 users in 31 countries around the world, and Microsoft is working to bring Android app support to even more users.
